Itinerary
Leave the Tajik capital behind and head for Kalaikhum, stopping at the 11th-century Hulbuk Palace on the way. Beyond the Shurobod Pass the road plunges into spectacular valleys as the true Pamirs begin. In Kalaikhum you'll meet the Panj River — your companion for the next few days — with your first glimpse of Afghanistan across the water.
